Upgrade Considerations for Preventive Maintenance
For existing orgs using Preventive Maintenance features, the following are the various upgrade considerations you must follow while upgrading to 25.1’s new PM user experience:
Upgrade Considerations for Existing Org using Custom SFMs for Time-Based PM Plans and PM Plan Templates
This section lists the upgrade considerations for admins of an existing org using custom SFMs for Time-Based PM Plans and PM Plan Templates.

If you do not perform the required actions, the old user experience for Preventive Maintenance will continue to be available to your org and will remain unchanged.

Updating User Experience for Creating PM Plan Template from the PM Plan Template Landing Page
The New button on the PM Plan Template landing page will be automatically updated to launch the new PM Plan Template User Experience. There is no action needed from admins to update the user experience.
Updating User Experience for Editing PM Plan Template on an Existing PM Plan Template Record
Admin must replace the custom SFM on the SFW Sidebar of the PM Plan Template record with a Custom Action for the new PM Plan Template Wizard UX.
To replace the custom SFM with a Custom Action for new PM Plan Template user experience:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > Service Flow Manager > Wizards.
2. From the list of Wizards, select the PM Plan Template object.
3. Expand the Wizard that include existing Custom SFM and remove the Step for the SFM.
4. Click the “+” button to add a new Step.
5. In the Choose Step Type window, select Others type and click Next.
6. In the Select Others field, select OTH071 : Manage PM Plan Template and click Apply.
The Custom Action’s Title and Description is auto-populated. You can configure other Step Properties based on your requirements.
7. Click Apply to add the Step.
8. Click Save on the Wizards page.
Updating User Experience for Creating PM Plan from a Source Record
Admin must replace the Custom SFM on the SFW Sidebar of a Source record with the Custom Action for the new PM Plan Wizard.
To replace the custom SFM with a Custom Action for new PM Plan user experience:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > Service Flow Manager > Wizards.
2. From the list of Wizards, select a Source Object you want to update. Example: Service Contract, Account, and so on.
3. Expand the Wizard that include existing Custom SFM and remove the Step for the SFM.
4. Click the “+” button to add a new Step.
5. In the Choose Step Type window, select Others type and click Next.
6. In the Select Others field, select OTH066 : Create PM Plan and click Apply.
The Custom Action’s Title and Description is auto-populated. You can configure other Step Properties based on your requirements.
7. Click Apply to add the Step.
8. Click Save on the Wizards page.
Also, admins must update auto-mapping settings in the org-wide Configuration Profile, as the new PM User Experience no longer uses SFMs. You must apply the mappings previously defined on custom SFMs in the org-wide settings.
To update auto-mapping settings in the org-wide configuration profile:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > App Administration > Configuration Profiles.
2. In the Org-wide Configuration Settings, select the required profile and click Edit.
3. Select the Preventive Maintenance Module and Manage PM Plan Submodule.
The SET004, SET005, SET006, SET007, SET008, and SET010 hold the mapID for the automatic mapping from a source record to a PM Plan, when the PM Plan is created.
4. Click Edit for the setting you want to update.
5. Copy and paste the MapID of your custom mapping into the Setting’s value and click Apply.
Similarly, update auto-mapping for other settings based on your requirements.

If these settings are not populated, hard-coded mapping still ensure vital details of a source record are mapped to the PM Plan upon creation.

Updating the User Experience for Managing PM Plan on an Existing PM Plan Record
Admins must replace the custom SFM on the SFW Sidebar of the PM Plan Record with a Custom Action for the new PM Plan Wizard UX.
To replace the custom SFM with a Custom Action for new PM Plan user experience:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > Service Flow Manager > Wizards.
2. From the list of Wizards, select the Preventive Maintenance Plan object.
3. Expand the Wizard that include existing Custom SFM and remove the Step for the SFM.
4. Click the “+” button to add a new Step.
5. In the Choose Step Type window, select Others type and click Next.
6. In the Select Others field, select OTH070: Manage PM Plan and click Apply.
The Custom Action’s Title and Description is auto-populated. You can configure other Step Properties based on your requirements.
7. Click Apply to add the Step.
8. Click Save on the Wizards page.
Upgrade Considerations for Existing Org using Standard OOTB SFMs and SFWs in Time-Based PM Plans and PM Plan Templates
Updating User Experience for Creating PM Plan Template from the PM Plan Template Landing Page
The New button on the PM Plan Template landing page will be automatically updated to launch the new PM Plan Template User Experience. There is no action needed from admins to update the user experience.
Updating User Experience for Editing PM Plan Template on an Existing PM Plan Template Record
If the standard “Edit PM Plan Template” SFM is being used on the standard SFW Sidebar for your PM Plan Template record page, then the user experience (UX) will be automatically updated to the Custom Action upon upgrade to 25.1 release.
Updating User Experience for Creating PM Plan from a Source Record
If the standard “Create PM Plan” SFM is being used on the standard SFW Sidebar for your source record page, then the UX will be automatically updated to the Custom Action upon upgrade to 25.1 Release.
Also, admins must update auto-mapping settings in the org-wide Configuration Profile, as the new PM User Experience no longer uses SFMs. You must apply the mappings previously defined on custom SFMs in the org-wide settings.
To update auto-mapping settings in the org-wide configuration profile:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > App Administration > Configuration Profiles.
2. In the Org-wide Configuration Settings, select the required profile and click Edit.
3. Select the Preventive Maintenance Module and Manage PM Plan Submodule.

• If you do not perform the required actions, mapping issues may occur, and the system will not assign preferred SFM Mappings in the Org-Wide Configuration Settings for PM Module.

If the standard “Manage PM Plan” SFM is being used on the standard SFW Sidebar for your PM Plan record page, then the user experience (UX) will be automatically updated to the Custom Action upon upgrade to 25.1 Release.
Upgrade Considerations for Existing Org using Condition-Based PM Plans & PM Plan Templates
Updating User Experience for Creating PM Plan Template from the PM Plan Template Landing Page
The New button on the PM Plan Template landing page will be automatically updated to launch the new PM Plan Template user experience. There is no action needed from admins to update the user experience. If your org uses a custom button for launching the old Condition-based PM Plan Wizard, you can remove the button.
Updating the User Experience for Managing PM Plan Template on an Existing PM Plan Template Record
Admins must replace the Custom Action of the Old UX on the SFW Sidebar of the PM Plan Template record with a Custom Action for the new PM Plan Template Wizard UX.
To replace the Custom Action:
1. Go to ServiceMax Setup > Service Flow Manager > Wizards.
2. From the list of Wizards, select the PM Plan Template object.
3. Expand the Wizard that include existing Custom SFM and remove the Step for the SFM.
4. Click the “+” button to add a new Step.
5. In the Choose Step Type window, select Others type and click Next.
6. In the Select Others field, select OTH071: Manage PM Plan Template and click Apply.
