Dispatching a Work Order
After creating work orders, you must dispatch and assign them to technicians. You can dispatch work orders using the following methods:
• Simple Assignment: Automatically assign work orders to technicians based on predefined entry criteria.
• Dispatch Console: Assign work orders to dispatchers, who use the
Dispatch Console to view, queue, and schedule work orders on technician calendars.
• Advanced Assignment: Use Schedule Optimization for rule-based dispatching. This method qualifies technicians by availability and skill, applies scheduling constraints (such as booking windows and SLAs), and optimizes assignments to reduce travel time and distance. Contact your ServiceMax admin to check if
Schedule Optimization is enabled in your org. For more information, see
